Mamae took Zoe to the Playgroup around the corner (lucky us!)  today. There was a Western themed party, so we saw a pony, bunnies, chickens, ducklings…but Zoe was more interested in the the children running around than any of the animals! We also had a chance to get a face paint, so check it for yourself! I think she looks very cute…;-)

Zoe is now getting more coordinated with her hands and fingers, so she’s always looking for the labels on her toys, the little speck of food on the table, the little cords, the little details…like Papa says, our little investigator.

ps. the last pic is from yesterday, when we were all SO excited to see Zoe trying to crawl! She knows how to move her arms but the legs are still not synchronised with the arms…so sweet…if you think about it, it’s a lot to co-ordinate.

Where’s my drink?

February 23, 2009

First attempt in using a cup by herself. Let me correct it: first time we let Zoe try holding the cup by herself! Everything was already SO messy that we thought it wouldn’t make a difference if the floor was covered with water as well (after tofu, rice, squash, pear…). So we gave her the cup, and she was eagerly trying to drink by herself – no need for mamae or papa anymore – except maybe for the cleaning-up afterwards ;-)

We just showed her where to hold the cup and how to tilt it and….  she truly enjoyed drinking by herself, of course! Especially after so much praising. It was so beautiful to see her trying it!

* Sigh* Is Zoe  starting to get independent already?!…Oh well, we’ve got a lot of practice to go through first ;-)

First days at the Kindy*

February 19, 2009

What a week it’s been!! Mamae back to work and Zoe starting childcare…Papa holds the family together and calms everybody down ;-)

Good news is that Zoe had 2 good days, managed to sleep and feed quite well there. She doesn’t seem to notice when mamae leaves; it’s so much to see and play with! In the afternoon she greets Papa with many jumps and giggles. It’s so much excitment that Zoe is really exhausted at the end of the day.

Tomorrow is Friday and we’re all looking forward to some rest! And perhaps some swimming?

*Kindy is Australian for childcare. As with many words, they love shortening them. Kindegarten = kindy

Jumping with Papa

February 13, 2009

There are certain classic games that only Papas can do with their children. I guess mothers tend to be more protective? – oh no, what a cliche’!!….And I end up having this worrying feeling that parenthood is really a HUGE cliche’! I’ve never caught myself repeating so many things that I had heard before!

Anyway, have a look at these pictures and you’ll see Zoe’s delight…and you wonder who had more fun, Zoe or Papa? ;-)

Under observation…

February 9, 2009

That would be the best way to describe how Nene & I feel sometimes at home. All our moves are scrutinized by 2 little – but huge – eyes (see pictures), which scan the whole environment. It is incredible how attentive Zoe is.  It seems we are entering now the stage where all our steps are followed… and soon presumably copied.

Otherwise, Zoe is just such fun to have around. I always treasure each Monday, when I am working from home, and I have the whole day with Zoe. She loves going out. Especially to the fruit market, where we spend always a lot of time smelling all the fruits and herbs.  Still can’t believe how quickly she has changed and how “interactive” she is these days.  Ah well, enough from drooling Daddy for today.

Wallpaper

Nothing really new to tell…Just wanted to post these two pictures of Zoe – my favourites at the moment, which already became wallpaper for the computer! ;-)
